open broth, pouring out
(re: everyone asked about you - paper airplanes, paper hearts)
glittering stars spark from my lips under the manic light
of day, the dutiful sun their eyes twist errant
my blood bubbles inside, synapses occlude in hot-pink shadow
i don't know what my legs are doing
my eyes barely hold, the wind singes what it cannot free
i dream of motion, of freedom, of reconciliation, of peace
my lungs as a site of violent equilibrium
hard spurs pulled, oxidized, spat out
for use, for example, for sharing
i am a dog, let this not be obscured to you
let me rend it bare from hiding, let me shatter my vessel
and shine light to your countenance
i will build tissue till my paws snap off
or disappear, fall apart, or collide
i am a dog among you, let me not be quiet
let these barks paint stars and haloes and wings onto everything
everyone, come closer, we've got only so much time, and as much distance
to travel
to shore up
to warm
